On April 13, the signing ceremony of the SEU China-Indonesia College of Elite Engineers was held at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia. Four parties, including SEU, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and PT. KinRui Technology Indonesia officially signed a cooperation memorandum.
As the first university in Jiangsu Province to promote the global rollout of its elite engineer cultivation model, SEU focuses on cutting-edge fields, including new energy and artificial intelligence, and has built a long-term, stable international cooperation mechanism covering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels with university-enterprise collaboration. Centered on the China-Indonesia College of Elite Engineers, SEU will advance a dual-track “university + enterprise” talent cultivation model. Nanjing Iron and Steel and PT. KinRui Technology Indonesia will open their enterprise practice bases, allowing students to participate in real local engineering projects directly. This model can truly enable students to be “employed upon graduation and proficient upon employment”, thus effectively bridging education, talent, innovation, and industry for synergistic development.
This cooperation precisely responds to Indonesia’s strong demand for engineering talents driven by the construction of its new capital, energy transition, and industrial digitalization. Based on SEU’s mature cultivation system for elite engineers, the newly-built college will rapidly upgrade Indonesia’s technical capabilities and innovation competence of local engineers for its key industries such as intelligent manufacturing, green energy, and smart cities, thus strengthening the core competitiveness and sustainable development capacity of Indonesian industries. This partnership will also accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements, support the green, intelligent, and high-end upgrading of relevant industries, and deepen China-Indonesia production capacity cooperation and economic and trade exchanges.
On the day of the signing ceremony, Mochtar Riady, the founder of Indonesia’s Lippo Group and an alumnus of SEU, attended the event. Zhang Huiyan, a representative of the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, SEU, Stephanie Riady, President of Universitas Pelita Harapan, Xu Xingfu, Executive President of Weilan Group, Nanjing Iron & Steel, and Huang Houlin, General Manager of PT.KinRui New Energy Technologies Indonesia signed on behalf of the four parties and jointly inaugurated the joint-cultivation base of PT.KinRui Company.
SEU will further deploy high-quality educational resources to provide a stable platform for long-term engineering education cooperation. Concurrently, the inauguration ceremony of the Nanjing Iron and Steel Joint-Cultivation Base was held in China, co-hosted by Jin Shi, Vice President of SEU, and Wang Fang, Deputy Party Secretary of Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd.
As one of the first batch of universities in China that has established the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers, Southeast University has always adhered to the core goals of serving national strategies, deepening industry-education integration, and promoting interdisciplinary development. At present, the university has an annual enrollment scale of 800 students pursing the mater’s and doctor’s degree in engineering, and has established a project-based cooperative cultivation model with more than 200 leading enterprises, forming a new university-enterprise education paradigm featuring organized implementation, seamless progression, strong coordination, and real-scenario practice.
